1st Annual Adamant 20 Miler Run or RideRun scenic out and back course on dirt roads with ponds and hills through Calais and Woodbury or Bike tour along similar roads (25 miles) passing additional ponds, an historic sawmill and the Old West Church Saturday, May 8, 2010 — 10 AMAdamant Music School, Adamant, VTDIRECTIONS: From Montpelier, follow Main St. through the roundabout and up the hill. Main St. becomes County Rd. At 6 miles from the roundabout turn right on Haggett Rd. proceeding 1.2 miles to Adamant. Park at the Adamant Methodist Church or across the street at the Concert Hall parking. BENEFICIARIES & SPONSORS: This is a Central Vermont Runners event co-sponsored by the Adamant Music School as a fundraiser. Adamant Music School is recognized as New England’s premier center for piano study. The school attracts faculty and students from all over the world bringing classical music to central Vermont each summer. Cyclists, runners and walkers travel through Adamant to enjoy the beautiful gardens, sculptures and landscaping of the Adamant Music School. For more information, go to www.adamant.org. REGISTRATION: To pre-register, download and print application (see below). CVR, c/o Eric Ryea, PO Box 60 Adamant, VT Race Day Registration 8:30-9:45 a.m. at Adamant Music School Barney Hall (across from the waterfall). FEE: $20 prior to May 6, $25 post-registration STARTING TIME: 10:00 am PRIZES, etc.: Prizes to 1st o/all M & F and 1st M & F in each 10 year age division in the running race. The bike ride is a non-competitive tour which will not be timed or have prizes. AID STATIONS: Approximately every 2 miles for runners, including Gatorade and water. Bike Food Stop at 9 & 16 miles. Post race refreshments at Barney Hall. COURSE: See course here. RUNNERS will do a 1 mile out and back on Sodom Pond Rd, then head up Adamant Rd which becomes Singleton Rd. At the end, bear left onto N Calais Rd. In 2.5 miles, turn left onto #10 Pond Rd, which becomes Cranberry Meadow Rd. The turnaround is just before Cranberry Meadow intersects County Rd. The course returns the same way, however the Sodom Pond out/back is not repeated. CYCLISTS will skip the Sodom Pond section, then follow the running course out to County Rd. Cyclists will turn right on County Rd to go out past Greenwood Lake and then will return staying on County Rd bearing left onto Robinson Cemetery Rd. to West Church Rd and Fowler Rd They will rejoin the run course at Fowler and Adamant Rd. NOTE: This is a scenic, but hilly dirt road course. It is designed as a good last long training run for Vermont City Marathon, however marathoners are encouraged to pace themselves slower than desired marathon pace for optimal marathon results.
