Remarks Introducing Darragh Ellerson as '04 Spirit of CVR Recipient
by Norm Robinson

Darragh Ellerson has been running and involved with running for more than 25 years. Darragh, you see, was the club's first vice president, and second president. She has held every office the club has ever had... multiple times.

Darragh was the first race director for the Leaf Peepers Half Marathon and 5K. Darragh is in large part responsible for not only keeping this race going for the past 21 years, but also making it successful year after year.

She has been a tremendously successful runner over the years. Time after time she has won her age group at races ranging in length from 5K up to marathon distance.

But Darragh's own running is not the main reason she was recognized with the CVR Spirit Award. The spirit of the club is its volunteers. Darragh has exceeded all expectations when it comes to volunteering. She has undoubtedly "worked" at more races than anyone in the club. Her dedication of timing at "Fun Runs" is legendary. Over the past few years she has not been healthy enough to run, but it has not dampened her willingness to still be an important member of the club.

She is generous with her time, with her experience and knowledge. She is always willing to help other runners with issues about their running.

If the award is about Spirit, Darragh embodies so much spirit and dedication to CVR, that she sets the bar for the rest of us.
